RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LITERATURE AND LANGUAGE

Literature uses language to entertain people, literature tends to employ beautiful language like choice of words in Poetry, Drama, Novels etc. and the message tends to appear to the readers’ minds and imagination. One may read a very big book and finish it just because it is so interesting. And what makes it so interesting is nothing but the authors’ technique example figures of speech, themes etc.

Literature uses language to educate people, literature educates people through language which make them aware example; it teaches people to practice what is good and warns people from doing something which is not good to their society, therefore literature can Sharpe people through language.

Literature uses language to criticize the society, literature uses language to reveal the existing evils in our societies. For instance from various literary works the writer or poets tend to send common message like corruption, embezzlement, exploitation, deceit etc. to criticize any society which is led by corrupt and deceitful leaders for more change.

Literature uses language to develop vocabularies to audience, through reading and or listening, the readers can understand language terms which he/she didn’t know before hence develops mastering of language structures. This is because literature uses language as its media and it normally uses figurative language to make it beautiful.

 Literature uses language to liberate people, we can liberate ourselves from being oppressed, exploited and humiliated with reference to knowledge. This is because literature tends to use language to reveal evils and gives solution. For example fighting back or to unite as one so as to eradicate oppression, exploitation and humiliation is what we always get from literary works. 

Literature uses language to express peoples’ culture, literature tends to use language to describe a certain society in terms of it’s totally way of life. A part from that, it teaches on how to deal with good cultural practices. It also expresses the way culture can be deteriorated and how to preserve it.
