What is dictionary?             A dictionary is a book which gives the meaning of words Or a reference book that contains alphabetically ordered words, with explanations of their meanings, often with information about grammar, pronunciation, and etymology. (A) PROPER NOUNS These are names of things, people and places with unique reference. It means that these names exist alone or in only one thing. For examples: Ø   People: Hamis, Mwakilema, Mwapinga, Kinyange, Zena. Etc. Ø   Things: Moon, Sun, World, etc Ø   Places: Bitale, Buhigwe, Mwanza, Iringa etc. (B)   COMMON NOUNS These are groups of names of people, things, liquids and places which are ordinary/normal. For example: Ø   Boys, Girls, Women, Men etc Ø   Things: Table, Doors, Chair, Cow etc Ø   Liquids: Water, Oil, etc. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PROPER NOUNS AND COMMON NOUNS 1.       Proper nouns are not used with articles while common nouns are used with articles.
